New Whitemans - and...Anyone Know The Weekend Forecast?

It’s official, the DDS family has expanded.  Yes, Dave and his wife (well, she did all the work) had twin girls this week.  Turns out they were a bit early too…which, having come from Dave’s loins, was completely unexpected – Congrats to the Whiteman family!!  In other news, we are returning to The Fire Island Casino Bar this Sunday.  For those who were there last time (and there were a lot of you), you’ll remember a perfect day quickly went south when a squall (for lack of a better word) came blowing in, seemingly out of nowhere, and rained-out most of our last set.  For those who were not there…I’m completely under-selling the scene.  To say we were “rained out” would be like saying that Jaws was a movie about a fish – while technically true…it doesn’t really tell the whole story.  The wind blew so hard and for such extended gusts that it almost carried away the Easy-Up tent our crew had erected (Huh huh…huh huh huh) next to the stage…which doesn’t sound like such a big deal until you realize it was being held down by most of Drop Dead Sexy, the crew, and a half dozen super-cool volunteers (Thanks again you guys!!).  It was raining sideways and, what had begun as an 88 degree and sunny day, now had soaked us to the bone and had us shivering uncontrollably.  The storm came on so sudden that we couldn’t even get all the gear inside in time…we had to wrap the remaining items in plastic and just HOLD ON.  The look and feel was similar to the deck of a crab-fishing boat on Deadliest Catch – except, instead of a camera filming the action, we had a live audience rooting us on from the warm, dry confines of the indoor portion of the Casino Bar.  Every time a really big gust came we’d hear a loud cheer from inside as they peered through the glass at us – one brave sole even ran out with an arm-full of canned beer for us to drink during our 40 minute battle with Mother Nature but, since no one had a free hand…and because we were all hypothermic at this point, they remained unopened until after the ordeal.  No, it was not the end of the world…but, for a little while, it felt like we may have been in the same area code.  Now, I ask you…what other band could offer entertainment like that?!?!? (pssst…the answer is “no other band”)  That’s right!! …NO OTHER BAND!!!  So, come on out on Sunday and watch us rock The Casino Bar!!  …or watch us get washed out to sea – either way, it’ll be a party.
