November 5th

1935 – The game “Monopoly” was introduced by Parker Brothers Company.

1940 – Franklin Roosevelt won an unprecedented third presidential term in office.

1942 – Christine A. Wolfe (my Mom) was born in Saskatchewan. Happy Birthday Mom!!

1946 – John F. Kennedy was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives at the age of 29.

1959 – The American Football League was formed.

1984 – The U.S. Supreme Court ruled that the NFL had exceeded antitrust limits in attempting to stop the Oakland Raiders from moving to Los Angeles (which all turned out to be a waste of time since they moved back to Oakland in 1995 ‘cuz no one cares about the NFL in LA).

1994 – Ronald Reagan announced that he had Alzheimer’s disease and George Foreman, 45, became boxing’s oldest heavyweight champion when he knocked out Michael Moorer in the 10th round of their WBA fight in Las Vegas.

1999 – Dennis Rodman and Carmen Electra were both arrested and charged with battery and domestic violence in a hotel in Miami Beach (anyone not see that coming when they hooked up?) and U.S. District Judge Thomas Penfield Jackson ruled that Microsoft Corp. enjoyed “monopoly power” (weird that it was on the 64th anniversary of the introduction of the game Monopoly).

2008 – My wife, Jennifer, and I got married in Las Vegas at a drive-thru wedding chapel in a red ’57 Chevy Bel Air with my parents in the back seat (weird that we did it on my Mom’s 66th birthday…but we did!!). Happy Anniversary Honey!!
